Festival overview
Sydney's most spectacular Odia and Jagannatha devotee gathering — the annual Ratha Jatra (Festival of Chariots) at Blacktown Showground. Thousands of devotees and community members come together to pull the sacred chariot of Lord Jagannatha through the showground grounds.
The day features the chariot procession, devotional singing (bhajans and kirtan), classical and folk dance performances, cultural programmes, and mahaprasadam distribution. This is a major community event open to all — families, children, and people of all backgrounds are warmly welcomed to join in pulling the chariot ropes and receiving Lord Jagannatha's blessings.
