Sabitri Brata (Savitri Vrata) falls on the Purnima (full moon) of Jyestha month. Married women observe a day-long fast and perform puja under a banyan tree, tying threads and praying for the long life and prosperity of their husbands. The vrata commemorates the legendary devotion of Savitri, who through her steadfast love and wisdom reclaimed her husband Satyavan from Yama, the god of death.
