About This Event
Festival overview
Gajalaxmi Puja is observed on the Kojagari Purnima (full moon after Dussehra) in the Odia tradition. Goddess Lakshmi in her Gajalakshmi form — seated on a lotus, flanked by two elephants pouring water over her — is worshipped for wealth, prosperity, and abundance.
Devotees stay awake through the night (the goddess is said to visit homes that night) and worship her with flowers, fruits, incense, and special offerings. In Odisha, Lakshmi Puja (Kumar Purnima season) is one of the most important annual observances for women and families.
