About This Event

Festival overview

Dhanwantari Jayanti honours Lord Dhanvantari — the physician of the gods, who emerged from the cosmic ocean (Samudra Manthan) carrying the pot of amrita (nectar of immortality). He is the deity of Ayurveda and health. Prayers are offered for good health, healing, and well-being.

Dhanteras (Dhanatrayodashi) is the first day of the Diwali festival — the auspicious day to purchase gold, silver, or new utensils as a symbol of prosperity. Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kubera (god of wealth) are worshipped in the evening with diyas, flowers, and sweets.
