About This Event
Festival overview
Akshaya Tritiya (Akshya Trutiya) is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. At Jagannatha temples, this day marks the ceremonial beginning of chariot construction — known as Ratha Khala Anukula. Carpenters begin work on the three grand chariots of Lord Jagannatha, Balabhadra, and Subhadra with traditional rituals and prayers. Devotees offer the first grains of the new harvest and seek blessings for prosperity and fulfilment. No muhurta (auspicious time) is needed on Akshaya Tritiya — every moment is considered auspicious.
